The distance between the dining chairs

Leave at least 24 inches between the chairs and measure from the center of the seat. For example, if each seat is 18 inches wide, a minimum of 6 inches between the chairs will provide plenty of elbow room. Leave 30 inches between the seats in the formal dining room (again, starting in the middle); For oversized armchairs, leave a few inches of room. The more room there is to move between the chairs, the easier it is for the guest to get up from the table. However, if the distance is more than 36 inches, it creates an awkward and conservative atmosphere.
In order to serve food to guests, you need enough room to walk around the table. Diners also need enough space to push their chairs back after dinner. Leave at least 3 feet between the edge of the table and a wall or alley. Designers prefer 5.5-foot spans when space allows.
